Dolly and Kitty make the trailer FUN!

Bhumi and Konkona match their characters in Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, says Moumita Bhattacharjee.

Why should men have all the fun?

That seems like the agenda of Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, a film with a fantastic cast.

A name like Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is a handful and so are the women in it.

The trailer might even offend some people for being so liberated.

Starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Bhumi Pednekar, Vikrant Massey, Amol Parashar and Aamir Bashir, DKAWCS talks about how two women try break free of the shackles of misogyny, but are unaware of how conditioned they themselves are.

The trailer has more or less narrated the conflict in the film.

Two cousins refuse to play by the rules set by society for women.

While Dolly (Konkona Sensharma) is looking for satisfaction in sex elsewhere, Kitty (Bhumi Pednekar) tries to be financially independent.

Quite obviously, all this creates a lot of commotion in their lives and the people around them.

Director Alankrita Srivastava left many stunned and stumped with her bold 2017 film, Lipstick Under My Burkha.

While that bared the truths of what it's like to be a woman in this society, DKAWCS takes it a step further, exposing the dichotomy of our existence.

So while Konkona is seen reprimanding Bhumi for being the voice behind a late-night hotline as 'achi ghar ki ladkiya ye kaam nahi karti', she is also indulging in an extra-marital affair.

We hope that this time, Alankrita will be able to converge at the motive of her movie which she neglected in her previous film. Lipstick Under My Burkha, although revolutionary, lacks the quintessential moral of the story.

The best part of such quirky medium budget films is that they can have brilliant actors in the cast.

Bhumi and Konkona match their characters to the T. None of them are brash or loud, but determined and resolute.

Vikrant Massey is lovable as the guy falling for Kitty while Amol Parashar perfectly plays the young delivery boy with a crush on his client.

From the look of it, DKAWCS will deal with a lot of issues an average woman deals in her life, but it's the dialogue which will be the film's biggest asset, apart from the cast.

The one at the end of the trailer, where Kitty tells Dolly about a world where a hotline must exist for a woman will hit you at so many levels.

Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare will stream from September 18 on Netflix.
